Root a Nexus 5 & Install a Custom Recovery On It

To root your Nexus 5, you will need to first turn off your phone and then press and hold down Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time to reboot into the bootloader mode. Then, double-click on root-windows.bat in the CF-Root folder and it’ll root your device. Once your device is rooted, head over to the Google Play Store and download and install TWRP Recovery app on your phone. Tap on TWRP Flash on the main interface.

To flash TWRP on your device, select your device and tap on Flash to Recovery.

Reboot your device and flash the recovery if you have not done so already.

Unlock Bootloader:

Developer options are a settings menu in your device that you can access by going to Settings > Developer options and enabling both USB debugging and OEM unlocking. This will allow you to debug your device on a computer if you have one, and unlock it if you have an OEM account.

Open the Fastboot folder, hold down Shift, right-click anywhere blank, and select Open command window here. Type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img” and hit enter. You will see a message saying “Fastboot successful.” If everything went well, you should now see a screen like this: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img If everything went well, you should now see a screen like this:

Root a Nexus 5X:

Press and hold down Volume Down and Power buttons together. Then select Recovery from the menu on your screen.Tap on Install and install the SuperSU file.

Root a Nexus 6

Unlock Bootloader:

By turning on both of these features, you will be able to use your device’s built-in unlock feature and the USB debugging feature more easily.

Open the Fastboot folder, press and hold down Shift, right-click on any blank space, and select Open command window here. Type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img” and hit enter. and hit enter. Type “fastboot reboot” and hit enter.

Root a Nexus 6:

  1. Turn off your phone.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Down and Power buttons to boot into the bootloader mode.
  3. Connect the phone to your computer.
  4. Run the file named root-windows.bat from the CF-Root folder.
  5. You’re now rooted!

Install a Custom Recovery:

To install the recovery, run the following command. Replace twrp.img with the actual file’s name.fastboot flash recovery twrp.img ..

Root a Nexus 6P

  2. Save the TWRP Recovery file to the Fastboot folder on your computer.
  3. Enable USB debugging from Settings > Developer options on your phone.
  4. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  5. Run the following command in Command Prompt to boot into Fastboot mode: adb reboot bootloader ..

Root a Nexus 6P:

SuperSU is a software application that can be installed on your phone in order to improve the security of your device. To install SuperSU, first power off your phone and press and hold down Volume Down and Power buttons to reboot into the bootloader mode. Then select Recovery.Tap on Install and install the SuperSU file.

Root a Nexus 7 & Install a Custom Recovery On It

Nexus 7 users can now root their devices using the CF-Root application. To do this, they must first turn off their phone and press and hold down Volume Down and Power. Then, they must plug in their phone to their computer. Finally, they can run root-windows.bat from the CF-Root folder. This will root the device and install the TWRP Recovery app.

Unroot a Nexus 5, 5X, 6, 6P, & 7

To extract the factory image:

  1. Download the factory image for your phone and extract it to your computer.
  2. Turn off your Nexus device.
  3. Press and hold down Volume Down and Power buttons to reboot into the bootloader mode.
  4. Launch a Command Prompt window in the unzipped factory image folder and run the following command:flash-all.bat ..

Wait for your phone to flash the stock firmware. When it does, run the following command to relock your phone’s bootloader. fastboot oem lock

Your Nexus phone is now back to its original stock firmware.
